Tesla Inc. will increase the prices of its entire car lineup in Canada, starting February 1. The prices of the Model 3 are expected to rise by up to $6,253.
What’s Happening
- Model Y prices will increase by up to $3,500 on February 1.
- Model 3 prices will increase by up to $6,253.
- The starting price of all variants of Model X and Model S will increase by $3,500, starting next month.
No reason has been given for the price hike, and Tesla has not responded to requests for comment. There is no warning of a possible price hike for the Cybertruck.
Why It Matters
Tesla does not manufacture vehicles in Canada, instead importing them from factories outside the country. The Canadian government levies a 100% tariff on all EVs manufactured in China and sold in the country. This includes Tesla EVs.
Earlier this month, Tesla increased the price of all Model Y and Model 3 variants in Canada by $900.
Recent Pricing Changes
This is not the first price increase for Tesla in Canada. The company has made several changes to its pricing in recent months, citing various factors.
