Top executives at Tesla, including Kimbal Musk, Robyn M Denholm, and Vaibhav Taneja, have sold shares of the company worth a total of $73 million over the past week. These transactions were reported in recent filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Details of the Sale

  • Robyn M Denholm, Director of Tesla and board chair, sold 112,390 shares worth approximately $43.2 million on February 3.
  • Vaibhav Taneja, Chief Financial Officer, sold 7,000 shares worth $2.8 million on the same day.
  • Kimbal Musk, Tesla board member and Elon Musk’s brother, sold 75,000 shares worth $27.6 million on February 6.

Trading Plan

The filings noted that the transactions by Denholm and Taneja are part of a trading plan adopted last year. Both executives acquired the shares they sold as part of a stock option plan. Kimbal Musk’s sale, however, was his first in the past three months.

Impact on Tesla Stock

Tesla stock closed down 1% on Thursday at $374.32. Despite this, the stock has seen a significant increase of about 100% over the past year.
