Tesla Raises Price of Fastest Cybertruck Model as EV Credit Deadline Looms and Sales Decline

Tesla has announced a price increase for the quickest Cybertruck variant, the Cyberbeast trim, from $99,990 to $114,990. This change comes as the September 30 deadline for the federal EV credit approaches.

The Cyberbeast Trim: New Pricing and Features

The price rise is attributed to the inclusion of the “Luxe package,” which offers:

  • Supervised FSD (Full Self-Driving) capabilities
  • Free access to Tesla’s Supercharger Network
  • A four-year premium service option
  • Enhanced connectivity features

The Cyberbeast trim boasts impressive performance, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds and an EPA range of 320 miles on a single charge, courtesy of its tri-motor all-wheel drive system and premium interiors.

Cybertruck’s 5-Star NHTSA Rating and Inventory Challenges

The Cybertruck has recently received a 5-star crash test rating for both driver and passenger from the NHTSA. However, despite this achievement and its build quality, Tesla is struggling to sell units, with an inventory worth $200 million and trade-ins being accepted for the vehicle less than 2 years after its release.

Tesla’s Broader Sales Woes and FSD Lawsuits

The price increase coincides with Tesla’s broader sales struggles, including double-digit drops in markets like the UK and other parts of Europe. Additionally, the company is facing lawsuits over its FSD system, with a California judge certifying a class-action lawsuit against Tesla for “misleading” claims about FSD’s capabilities.

Tesla’s Current Standing

Tesla scores well on Momentum and Growth metrics, while offering satisfactory Quality, but poor Value. The company’s future prospects and challenges will be closely watched by investors and industry analysts alike.
