Ross Gerber's Unconventional Suggestion for Elon Musk: Add a Steering Wheel to Self-Driving Taxis

Investment firm Gerber Kawasaki‘s co-founder, Ross Gerber, has made a suggestion for Tesla and CEO Elon Musk. Gerber believes that Tesla should have used the Cybercab as a foundation for the affordable model in its lineup.

Put A Steering Wheel In The ‘Gold Cab’

Gerber’s suggestion is to take the gold cab, add a steering wheel, and charge $30,000 for a gold, 2-door Tesla. He thinks this vehicle would be popular and that customers would want one. However, Gerber criticized Musk for not pursuing this idea, saying “But the CEO killed that car…”.

Ross Gerber’s Tesla ‘Warning’

This suggestion follows Gerber’s earlier comments, where he warned against buying a Tesla vehicle and instead urged customers to lease them. Gerber stated that purchasing the cheaper variants could result in customers paying “$5,000 too much”.

Dan Ives Remains Bullish

Meanwhile, Wedbush Securities‘ analyst Dan Ives remains bullish on Tesla following the release of the cheaper Model Y and Model 3. Although he conceded that the price difference between the Models and their already available trims left him “disappointed”, he predicted a $2 trillion market capitalization for Tesla based on the affordable models and Full Self-Driving (FSD) updates.

Tesla’s Market Performance

Tesla scores well on Momentum and Growth metrics, while boasting satisfactory Quality, but poor Value. The company also offers a favorable price trend in the Short, Medium, and Long term.
