Elon Musk Announces Expansion of Tesla Diners with Hint at Next Location

Elon Musk has confirmed that more Tesla Diners are on the way, marking an expansion of the retro-futuristic charging-and-food concept. This announcement comes just days after Musk hinted that the next site could be in Palo Alto, California.

Musk Signals Wider Diner Expansion Ahead

Musk reposted a clip from Tesla North America on social media, showing drivers ordering food from their cars while en route to the West Hollywood diner. He captioned the post, “More Tesla Diners coming.” This confirmation has sparked excitement among fans of the innovative concept.

The Concept Behind Tesla Diners

The current Tesla Diner in West Hollywood has become a proving ground for the concept. The site features:

  • Over 250 dining seats
  • A second-story rooftop “Skypad” with city views
  • Two large movie screens
  • 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, making it the largest urban Supercharging station in the world

A Simplified Menu with Heavy Demand

Initially, the restaurant offered classic American diner food, including burgers, shakes, and fried chicken. However, due to high demand, the menu was simplified. Despite this, the diner has seen significant sales, with reports claiming that it sold around 50,000 burgers in the third quarter of last year.

Pricing and Stock Performance

Tesla’s stock closed 0.78% lower at $388.90 on Thursday, with a further 0.19% drop in after-hours trading. The stock has seen a 61% increase over the past year but is down 11.22% year-to-date.

Future Plans and Locations

Musk has previously mentioned broader ambitions for the Tesla Diner concept, including expanding to major cities and long-distance Supercharger routes. With the success of the West Hollywood site, it’s likely that we’ll see more Tesla Diners popping up in the near future. Palo Alto, California, is a rumored location for the next site, but only time will tell if this will come to fruition.
