Elizabeth Warren Condemns Trump for Transforming White House into 'Billionaire Playground'

Senator Elizabeth Warren has slammed President Donald Trump for using the White House’s front lawn for his personal indulgences instead of focusing on lowering costs. Warren began her criticism by stating that Trump had built a “UFC cage,” a “Tesla showroom,” and a “gold-encrusted ballroom” on the White House front lawn.

Warren questioned what Trump had done for American families, citing his focus on transforming the White House into a “billionaire playground.” This criticism comes after Trump openly endorsed Elon Musk-led Tesla Inc. at a White House event, with officials from the Trump administration urging people to buy Tesla stock.

Trump’s Ties to Elon Musk

Musk was instrumental in getting Trump back into the White House, with the billionaire spending approximately $250 million in donations to the Trump campaign in the run-up to the 2024 Presidential Election. Trump’s UFC fight card has been touted as part of both the President’s 80th birthday celebration and the 250th Fourth of July celebration.

Rising Inflation and Gas Prices

The news comes as the U.S. has been battling rising costs, with Moody’s Analytics Chief Economist Mark Zandi warning that the country’s economy was growing below its potential, leaving it vulnerable to economic slowdown and unemployment. Gas prices have been hovering above the $4/gallon mark following the Iran war, with the national average price for a gallon of gas on Monday at $4.1640/gallon.

Economic Concerns

States like California and Nevada have paid more than $5/gallon, outlining rising costs. The administration had earlier touted the need for a ballroom following a security incident in April during the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner. However, a federal lawsuit against the event has been filed by The Public Integrity Project, which was representing two Virginia residents.
